Design Process: What’s Involved

So you want to own a website. Well, congratulations to you! It’s your first step toward staking claim of your well-deserved spot on the Internet.

Lexographix takes the mystery (and anxiety!) away from the design process. As your web designer, I want to make the process of designing and launching your future website as seamless – and painless – as possible.

Step 1: Contact me

You are welcome to contact me 24/7 via email or phone. Leave a voice message for me if I’m not available. This ‘new thing’ called Google Voice will transcribe your message and send it to me as an email. Cool, huh?

Step 2: We chat

In our initial consultation session, we chat about whatever you want regarding your new website. I’ll prompt you with questions – and you supply me with answers. Like school, but without the exams.

I will then suggest a Design Package that closely meets your needs and your budget.

By the way, do you have a website address yet? (What they call a domain name.) If not, I’ll be happy to help you through the process of securing one that’s sensible.

Step 3: You send me stuff*

*We can skip this step if you want to me to go CRAZY with CREATIVITY and come up with a mock (prototype) website on my own, based on YOUR ideas

If you have logos, graphics, images and copy (content, text) that you would like to have included in your website, send them over. Email is best.

Burning them all on a CD is good.

Placing them in an envelope and sending it my way on the back of a goat isn’t so good.

Step 4: Wait

We discuss about deadlines – when you need your website officially up and running. You’ll save some bucks if you’re not in a rush.

If you are in a rush and want your website launched ASAP, then it will cost you a little more.

OK…. a LOT more. Contact me for details on express service.

According to the choice of your Design Package, I’ll ready your prototype website within 7 to 14 days. During this period, I might contact you with questions regarding layout and content.

Step 5: Preview Website

We’re close to being done here. Once I’m ready with your prototype website, I’ll contact you with the good news and send you a link to the site. (Prototype websites are hosted on a special, little place on the server that only YOU can view.)

We chat more about what changes you would like made. (Little ones, please. No overhauling.)

Step 6: And Off She Goes!

Once you’re satisfied with the prototype website, we are ready for launch!

At this point, payment is due in full for the completed web design project. No firstborns accepted.

And remember, 10% of all web design sales will be donated to the wonderful kids at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Once your payment is received, your website will be officially launched! Bring out the champagne.

Step 6: Following Through

The hand-holding doesn’t stop once your website is launched. I will continue to maintain and update your website after ‘Launch Day’ (minimal fees incurred) and suggest ways you can increase more ‘eyeballs’ to your spanking-new website. As long as I’m your ‘Web Guy’, you are more than welcome to contact me 24/7 if you have any questions or needs regarding your website.
